A Moment of Comics
RIP John Romita Sr. My parents would buy me comics during vacations so I would stay quiet in the back seat. Imagine having never heard of the "Death of Gwen Stacy" storyline and then having the climatic issue, published the same year you were born, somehow years later landing in your hands after Mom and Dad bought it at some general store on Cape Cod. Written by Gerry Conway, Romita's ink job (working with T. Motellaro did wonders with Gil Kane's pencils. And that cover. Romita's Spider-Man was surely my Spider-Man after this issue.
