Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions selected from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.
I also have a book collecting the best of my first year of poems. Click here to purchase it.
Jason Wright assumed the mantle of host this week. It was good that he got to advertise the first ever Oddball Festival he's putting together this August. It was a fun group of regulars, which helped to produce this poem that's almost a sequel of last week's crouton poem. Of course it helps when Jon Wesick reads a continuation of the hilariously dark piece he read last week.
It was good to get some rest after the week I had.
Thanks for reading.
Warning Ritual
Political intrigue before breakfast
means it's almost Friday, puts taste
Actually, flavor more like roomie's
overnight guest, making more noise
than another broken up peace rally.
Newest visitor is schizophrenic, and
you are not. A cacophony of wasps
attacking bees for flamboyant color.
Someone will die before universe
will ignore you. Cereal follows into
sink like roommate's other discharges.
Another judge's son runs rampant
from your doormat, pisses on a bust
of Saint Francis, coitus interrupts this
pure morning, goes native to discover
America again. Get down with death's
angel today. Something to tell future kid.
