Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions selected from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.
I also have a book collecting the best of my first year of poems. Click here to purchase it.
The poem is below. Work is on it's way. Sorry for the rush. Best wishes to Richard Spisack. Hope he feels better.
Thanks for reading.
Prayer Before Missing Breakfast
who bravely leave
their resuscitating
widows behind
to look over
the latest war
and hang glide
like cats hanging
on Christmas trees
assuming identities
of those who died
broke and broken
before them, nameslast to be bought after
trademarking water.
Please save Jesus
who's busy yelling
at customers in his
lousy service job
while his bosses
try to stop bombs
in their outlets
by way of dreams,
like wearing
funny mustaches
for protection from
friendly fire.
Jump roping
while humming
Disney tunes
over minefields.
Special thanks to Richard Spisak, Nancy Dodson, Bil Lewis, Patrick Carragon, Jon Wesick, Carol Weston, C.C. Arshagra, Ed Gault and Robert Fleming.
