Bellingham Chosen

Dan Provost is, like me, a poet from Bellingham Massachusetts and therefore my natural enemy. Still, he has a poem I can't overlook in today's edition of The Rye Whiskey Review. Read it now.

Summer Reading (so far)

One great thing about my time away is my girlfriend gave us a lot of beach time. I did a bit of reading for the first time in a while. Highly recommend Wrestling Pessoa by Dan Provost, Dan Flore III and Waiting for an Oracle by petro c.k. I'll be posting reviews on their Amazon pages sometime this week.

And Then...

A poem of of great length and plunging depth from Dan Provost ends the Wednesday lineup with great help from Bonnie Matthews Brock's photography. Thank you for reading Oddball Magazine today.

Stone Soup Croutons, 11-29-23: The Background Characters Speak

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions selected from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.

I also have a book collecting the best of my first year of poems. Click here to purchase it.

Dan Provost was a great feature on Wednesday. Support him by donating to donating to his PayPal (danprdn@aol.com) or buying his new book from Alien Buddha Press. Or this one from Roadside Press. It was a fun open mic that stood in contrast to the tone of Dan's work. With this week's piece, I tried extra hard to go with a Bukowski tone to go with Dan's style.

For Bukowski poems, I think you have to be miserable to start writing it, in a much better mood to edit them, and you have to be brave enough to use the pronoun "I."

I got one out of three. It was too much fun to do.

Thanks for reading.

Looking Forward to Nothing

Stay safe tonight, friends. I'll be preparing to drive out for Thanksgiving tomorrow.

I want you all back next week to see Dan Provost feature at Stone Soup Poetry.

After the Holiday Break

Dan Provost returns to Stone Soup Poetry next Wednesday.

From off the Roadside to Stone Soup’s Cyberspace - Dan Provost reads from his vast body of work for Stone Soup Poetry - Wednesday, November 29, 2023 7:00-9:00 P.M. ET - Open mic included! Donations appreciated! - Visit https://stonesouppoetry.blogspot.com/ for the Zoom link

November 29: Dan Provost Closes Out November at Stone Soup

Dan Provost is another poet from Bellingham, Massachusetts. That is to say, he's the only other poet from Bellingham, Massachusetts beside myself. He has a serious work ethic to his writing and publishing which matches his poetry's Bukowski vibe. He featured live at Stone Soup Poetry years ago, and it will be great to have him back online to feature on November 29. Get in early so you can ask him any number of embarrassing things about me growing up in "The Ham." Also note that no one with any dignity calls the town I grew up in "The Ham."

Join us on November 29 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM ET by clicking this link.

Birthday Boy Back in Town

Dan Provost is featured on his birthday. Nice coincidence. He's joined with artwork by Eric N. Peterson. Welcome to another Wednesday at Oddball Magazine.
