Publications I'm Proud of in 2022: Tell-Tale Inklings

Penned in 2021, "Saint Leon"is one of the most personal poems I've written in a long time. Not everyone gets it when I read it. Too many taboos broken. I'm thankful that Mignon Ariel King got it and wanted it right away for Tell-Tale Inklings #6, which you can still order here. It might be a while before I write a poem that raw again.

The first issue of the journal will post on MARCH, 2023 – to celebrate Women's History Month.
Submissions Open: November 15, 2022 to February 1, 2023. No fee. No payment.

SAFE DISTANCE EDITION - Stone Soup Croutons, 9-29-21: Before You Leave School

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions picked from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.

Thank you, Denise Washington, for a wonderful feature. The open mic was teeming. I present this poem that hopefully reflects the positivity of the night. It would be about time for that to happen. 

 

The title was inspired by Denise's opening for her feature, a recitation of "We Real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks. Thanks for reading.

Not moving is the most

Hidden Charm Press is now accepting submissions for the print anthology Extra MoJo! #3. Guidelines are on the site. Kindly spread the word. Facebook has blocked the site's link as "hate speech," and I have deleted the HCP Facebook Page, cutting down submissions considerably.

2021 marks HCP's 10th ke. The online journal MoJo! -- which inspired the print journal -- launched in 2008. Black women's voices always matter around here! Please help to keep the press going.
