Publications I'm Proud of in 2022: Tell-Tale Inklings

Penned in 2021, "Saint Leon"is one of the most personal poems I've written in a long time. Not everyone gets it when I read it. Too many taboos broken. I'm thankful that Mignon Ariel King got it and wanted it right away for Tell-Tale Inklings #6, which you can still order here. It might be a while before I write a poem that raw again.

RIP The Lost Bookshelf

Gloria Mindock posted this photo of the empty space at Somerville's Center for The Arts at The Armory. Until this weekend, it was the home for The Lost Bookshelf, the offline extension for the website of the same name Gloria uses for selling books from Červená Barva Press. There have been some crooked actions committed over at the Armory. Once again, the arts are encouraged in cities, but only if they are self-sustaining without the cities having to do anything. 

Because of where I've lived the last few years, I haven't visited Somerville very much. Still, I went to the Armory and visited Gloria's space enough times to have some nice memories. My favorite moment there, of course, was the 2015 release party for Tell-Tale Inklings #1. Good times you can't duplicate on a Zoom call.

The arts are dying all around the city, and I can barely comment on it all. It'll be all I can do today to send Gloria my consolations. 

New Issue Out

My piece "Three O'Clock Poem" appears in the fifth issue of Tell-Tale Inklings, available now from Telltale Chapbooks. I also share space with Elizabeth Hanson, Holly Guran and several others. New Published Work

So happy to have my work included in the latest Tell-Tale Inklings journal from Tell-Tale Chapbooks and Editor/Publisher and friend Mignon Ariel-King. This issue includes "Poet's Funeral," a poem of mine I've been sending out for quite some time. So happy it's found a home. You can buy the newest issue here.

More Things Happening

Queen Mob's Tea House will be publishing four of my poems (along with my photographs) on Saturday.

This morning, I was informed that at least one of my poems will be in the next issue of Tell-Tale Inklings.

As far as publishing goes, this is one of the best starts to a year I've ever had. 

People I'm Grateful for in 2017: Mignon Ariel King

For the last two years, Mignon as a publisher and editor was the advocate of my work I thought I would never have.

Because of her support, I've gotten both more work in print and a Pushcart nomination under my belt.

This past year, we have been slowly but surely putting together my book, which will see print in 2018.

I can't thank her enough for entertaining all my emails, especially the back and forth over the title, which I'll finally announce next year.

Tell-Tale Inklings #3 is Out Now

Mignon Ariel King just released the third issue of this poetry journal from her Tell-Tale Chapbooks imprint.

Two of my Stone Soup Croutons poems ("Stamp" and "Open Mic Songs of Self," no longer available online) appear here.

I'm included among a number of writers new to me and old colleagues, which always makes me happy. And it's got a great cover by Stephan Antsey.

Acceptance

I thought I was getting into Wilderness House Literary Review this month. Turns out I'll be published in the Fall. I like getting published in the fall, so that's good news.

I also find out yesterday that I'll be published in Tell-Tale Inklings. This will be good timing for my book release for reasons I'll get into at another time.

2016 Highlight: My First Pushcart Nomination

I can't thank Mignon Ariel King and her Tell-Tale Chapbooks enough for not only including my work in the  this amazing tome but also nominating my poem "On Your A/C Falling from the Window for a Pushcart Prize. I don't know if I'll win, but the nomination alone is more than I hoped for.

Tell-Tale Inklings 2 is Out (Also...Pushcart?!?)

Tell-Tale Chapbooks has just released issue 2 of Tell-Tale Inklings, a collection of short tales and poems edited by Publisher Mignon Ariel King and sporting a cover photograph by Tom Daley. My poems "Smokey's Pace" "On Your A/C Falling from the Window" appear here and I just found out that "On Your A/C..." was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. My greatest gratitude to Mignon for the nod. She RSVP'ed personally, so this is a bit of a cheat. Still, I haven't seen her since her Stone Soup feature last November. With a new Tell Tale issue coming out, it's a great time to hear her work again and play catch up.

Chris Robbins

Not that it usually means anything these days, but he did put himself down as attending on Facebook. I'll be happy if I see him. In the video above, BTW, Chris recites a poem that was originally published in Spoonful, another project I need to get back to some day.
