Happy Belated Birthday Steve Katsos
This is Steve Katsos. He had me on the most recent and well known iteration of his TV show. I was on the first ever episode. He sneezed on me in mid-read. It's still one of the top five audience reactions to my work I've ever witnessed.

Today's #TBT
In 2009, I had the pleasure of being invited as a guest to the first ever episode of The Steve Katsos show.In the ten years since, Mr. Katsos has featured a great number of musicians, a cavalcade of comics and...one poet (me). He ended up sneezing on me during our interview, and he soon discovered he was allergic to poets (or at least me, and he didn't want to take another chance).
Steve and I had worked on a number of projects in college, where my friends and I enjoyed watching VCR tapes of his public access show, "The Missing Tooth." It was a pleasure to take part in the launching of his now ten year old show and a privilege to be the opening act for his show's one year anniversary celebration.
Steve is hanging up his mic for now to focus on his family. I have no doubt he's making the right decision and that he'll also come back bigger than ever some day.
Congratulations on a great run, Steve. Big or small screen, stage or YouTube, I'm sure I'll see you back to entertain us.

Steve Katsos as Shock Jock
Here's another installment in my Happy Birthday Steve posts. While Steve Katsos worked on his first TV show The Missing Tooth, he also had a radio show at Framingham State College (now Framingham State University)."Frequency Alterations," his WDJM show with John Cox, ran for an all-too-short time in his college career.

In honor of commemorating Steve's day of birth, I'll show some blasts from our shared past.
Before Steve Katsos became a local media mogul on the rise, we both worked at Framingham State College's student run paper The Gatepost. He started as a cartoonist and humor writer before he rose in the ranks to become Editor-in-Chief. Sadly, I graduated the semester before that and missed his EIC reign entirely. Still, there were probably more laughs when Steve was just on the sidelines making funny asides during our editorial meetings.
The above picture comes from a photo used in Steve's The Katpost, a entire Gatepost 1-2 pager usually published before the winter break and dedicated to all things Steve, including his brother's band Gumshoe, his humor column and/or horoscope and his comic Katman.
The large facsimilie of a rolled up Gatepost in the background? That's another story.

And Since I'm in a Nostalgic Mood Today
Steve Katsos in the offices of The Gatepost putting together his ultimate vanity project The Katpost. His crowning achievement until his Steve Katsos Show, which recently celebrated its fourth anniversary. congratulations, Steve!

Tony V. on The Steve Katsos Show
Steve Katsos is an old colleague from college. He may not remember, but Tony V. opened for Bob Goldthwait at Framingham State University (then a mere College) when we were both Freshmen. It was nice to see two blasts from the past in one YouTube clip.

My Appearance on The Steve Katsos Show
The part where I don't get sneezed on by Steve is finally online.
Steve is an old friend and an old comrade from the days of working for the newspaper at Framingham State College. We even took an advanced journalism course in conjunction with the paper and it's then (and now) adviser, Desmond McCarthy. You can tell just by seeing Steve in action below how relieved I was that he was there to lighten the mood.
Steve is always "on," so the clip below is me trying to sound intelligent while trying not to laugh at Steve with his expressions. Is this why my eyes always look closed?
