Latest Update: We are still rallying at the statehouse at 10, with a program of speakers. We will then march to city hall plaza, where the far right is gathering at noon. Our goal is to counter-protest them and send a clear message that their hatred is not welcome in our city.
Far right groups Resist Marxism and Boston Free Speech are planning to hold a demonstration in Boston on 8/18, where they intend to rally and march under the hypocritical banner of a "March Against Leftist Violence." As we have done time and time again this past year, we have to oppose them in the streets. There is no room for their hate in our city.
Join anti-racists in Boston as we commemorate those who have lost their lives to violent fascists. After a rally, we plan on counter-protesting the far right.
For decades now, the far right violence has been the most common and devastating source of political terrorism in this country. Upon Trumps arrival, this violence spiked, became more brutal, and was encouraged by the most powerful men in this country. It would have be easy to be swallowed by grief, to be immobilized by pain and fear, to freeze in the face of terror. Instead, Boston rose up in our collective pain and said NOT ONE MORE. 40,000 people in august, thousands more in November, May, and June. In honor of our dead, of our unwilling martyrs, we will continue to rise against and resist these bastions of hate.
Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living!
