Thirty-One Days of Stone Soup Stuff

This is what I mean about confusing flyers. There are several copies of the one directing you to the Christian A. Herter Center in Allston, Massachusetts. Nice gesture, but I have no idea what event and what day or time this is for, let alone the year.

This Week’s Friendly Reminder

Another one from Allston. This is all I have for this week. Maybe I need it more than you.

On the Matter of Blue Lines

Saw this sticker in Allston. If it weren't for the backlash, I'd put this as my Facebook cover photo.

Allston Alleyway

Abandoned Art

It looks like someone attempted drawings of Wile E. Coyote and Daffy Duck before leaving them behind.

On a Wall in Allston

First time I've seen the person I call the Ice Cream Man anywhere else besides Jamaica Plain and the Longwood area of Boston.

Then again, it was the first time I'd been in Allston in years. Shouldn't be surprised.

I'm pretty sure the eye imagery and the "scream" were added in later.

This Week's Friendly Reminder

Spent time in Allston on Saturday. This sign was in the window of Ritual Arts, a store still there after all these years. Perfect for this month.

Poster of black and white fist "bumping" with pece sybmol and heart, words: "Let Us Not Divide - Let Us Conquer Racism!"

Thirty Days of Stone Soup Stuff

This is a 2004 painting/mixed media piece from Jack Powers using his visual artist moniker "Jack Debris." I participated in an art auction and won it for thirty dollars.

I scanned the art with the frame still on. I'm afraid it might fall apart if I try to take it out.

When the pandemic is over, I would love to see if his other larger pieces are still at the International Community Church in Allston.

"Peace Fire," a Poem by Carol Weston (with John Voigt)

Arguably the best performance of Carol Weston's long poetic journey. Caught on film by Bill Perrault. Accompanied by musician John Voigt, "Peace Fire" was performed for Stone Soup Poetry's fortieth anniversary at the International Community Church. It also served as a wake for Stone Soup's founder Jack Powers, who passed away on October 14, 2010.

Your Weekly Dose of God

This is a bit of a stretch, but hey, why not?

Went shopping in Allston. Thought about eating somewhere local. Saw this place.

I know. I know. But hey, after decades of the Our Father prayer, this place was a little too intimidating. Maybe next time.
