Brockton Library Poetry Series: "Everyone Has A Voice"

This series is truly about equality, sharing, and celebrating the human experience through poetry. To be sure, this series will underscore the idea that Everyone Has a Voice.

October 21, 2017 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM we will begin with featured poet Jean-Dany Joachim presenting selected pieces from his collection of work, followed by the open mic featuring YOU, the audience members. The venue is held in the Driscoll Art Gallery at the Brockton Public Library main branch, 304 Main Street, Brockton MA.

Jean-Dany Joachim Cambridge Poet Populist from 2009 to 2011, and the current Poet in Residence at First Church in Cambridge, is also an author of short stories and pays. He created the Many Voices Project, a series of readings and follow-up poetry workshops, inspiring conversations about race and equality. He has three published collections of poetry, Crossroads / Chimenkwaze (2013), Avec des Mots (2014), and Quartier (2016). He is the director of City Night Readings, a series featuring diverse poetic talents, writers, and artists. Jean Dany is a 2017 Massachusetts Cultural Council grant recipient for his play: Your Voice Poet

The Brockton Library Poetry Series “Everyone Has a Voice” will be held on the third Saturday of each month, with a featured poet followed by the open mic. Sign up for the open mic begins one half hour before the start time. We are excited to bring you these readings in the Driscoll Gallery from 2:00 – 5:00 during the months of September, October, March, May, and June, and from 1:00 – 4:00 during the months of November – February. There will be no reading in April, as it is reserved for the Soaring Without Limits: Healing Through the Arts exhibit and reception. We will have a tentative hiatus (subject to change) during July and August. We look forward to seeing all who can attend. Unity is only achieved through embracing diversity, all else is fruitless adversity. Everyone Has a Voice, please join us, and share yours.
