THE FIRST AND LAST WORD POETRY SERIES

Kirk Etherton enjoys performing poetry and songs solo, and with musicians such as electric bassist Ethan Mackler and bowed instrument master Beth Bahia Cohen. He is the author of the chapbook From Somerville to Somewhere Else, and the forthcoming collection Diving For Stones. Kirk was a featured explorer / visual artist / poet on WGBH's "All Things Considered" in 2017. He co-produces the Boston National Poetry Month Festival.

Julia Carlson, New Englander by birth and persuasion, attended Boston University (BA, Philosophy, & Masters, Social Work). In the early 1970's, she moved to the South of France with her husband, a French citizen who had been drafted into the US Army. While there, she completed a diploma in Linguistics at the University of Toulouse-le-Mirail, France. First Fiction Editor, Wilderness House Literary Review, and Editor, Bagel Bards Anthology V. Her work has been published in many small presses, including Muddy River Poetry Review, Nixes Mate Review, Poetry Super Highway, Ibbetson Street, Wilderness House Literary Review, Lyrical Somerville, Sunday Poet, Writing in a Woman's Voice. She was awarded the Davis Kidd Poetry Award in 2001, and won the PoetryKit Spring Competition (UK), 2017. She is author of two chapbooks: Turn of the Century, (Cloudkeeper Press, 2008) & Drift (March Hare Press, 2012). Her first collection, Prayer for the Misbegotten, (Oddball Press) was published in 2017; her newest collection, Little Creatures, (Wilderness House Press) has just been released.

Anne Elezabeth Pluto is Professor of Literature and Theatre at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA where she is the artistic director and one of the founders of the Oxford Street Players. She is an alumna of Shakespeare & Company, and a member of the Worcester Shakespeare Company. She was a member of the Boston small press scene in the late 1980s and is one of the founders and editors at Nixes Mate Review. Her chapbook, The Frog Princess, was published by White Pine Press (1985), her chapbook Benign Protection by Cervena Barva Press (2016) and Lubbock Electric by Nixes Mate Books (2018) Recent publications include: The Buffalo Evening News, Unlikely Stories: Episode IV, Mat Hat Lit, Pirene's Fountain, The Enchanting Verses Literary Review, Mockingheart Review, Yellow Chair Review, Levure Litteraire - numero 12, The Naugatuck River Review, Tuesday, An Art Project, the Mom Egg Review, Fulcrum.
