I wrote my first blurb for 2021 for fellow Bellingham native Dan Provost. Read below.
The life of a New Englander can flash before their eyes on any quiet night. In just the time between putting one’s head on a pillow and falling to sleep, the mind can go from communing with deceased family to reliving their most invincible moments of youth to wanting to just run out into the streets screaming like the terrible two-year-old they always suspected they would never stop being. It’s a war with self in silence. And on top of all that, what if there’s a pandemic going on? Or a crumbling democracy? Or both? Dan Provost’s December 22, 2020: Playing in Short Pants During a Snowstorm reads like News from the Front dispatches from a single night in a terrible year. The fact that he is able to gaze out of his window at all and remark on what goes on in his town or his country feels especially brave and relieving, a writer choosing to live in the world just for a break. Born and raised in Bellingham, Massachusetts (an unwitting part of the strange area called Greater Woonsocket Rhode Island) Dan won his battles and now shows you how he lives even with his victories.
Dan Provost’s December 22, 2020; Playing in Short Pants During a Snowstorm will be available this coming week. I will post more information when it's available.
