Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions picked from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.
I also have an award nominated book out now collecting the best of my first year of poems. Click here to purchase it.
zaji gave us a wonderful feature on Wednesday. A nice interlude before the latest winter storm. Thanks ot Tznya Pinchback for introducing us. Thanks to Martha Boss for stopping by!
I wrote a Valentine-ish poem last week, but for some reason Patricia Carragon's opening poem made me want to do an anti-valentine poem. Took inspiration for the title from my favorite Valentine's-themed horror movie (or is there only that one). Yes, I'm blaming Patricia It's all I got this week. Thanks for reading.
Bloody
Wear black for your
weekend long
Valentine's protest.
Enough silence
in one bedroom
Your online
manifesto only
visited by you.
Only black tie
searches for
a pole above.
Philosophize
sink dishes
away from view.
Eat junk food, watch
miserable people
who know more.
Grandfather's wisdom
while shoveling
sums everything.
This is
all so
f---ing stupid.
Previous
worst swear
was King drag.
Seeds of
contempt will
take a while.
Eventually
you will
grow thorns.
Sustained by
lack of self care
like bare feet in snow.
Your rage makes
a poor kiln
for soul's clay.
All misshaped,
a too-tall
skinny ash tray.
Can honey
be balm
on ash pile?
Can hot sand
soothe these
scarred feet?
What kind
of normal
do you want?
One with-
out memories
of crying?
Tznya Pinchback and Martha Boss abstained. 😟 |
