This week, I'm bringing up later efforts by older musical acts that have been forgotten over time. "Smokestack Lightning" was the first single and video from Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1993 with new singer Johnny Van Zant, brother of the late singer Ronnie Van Zant. This was several years before the "Behind the Music" series, but it still got a lot of play on the radio music television. Over time, classic rock radio changed and stopped being as supportive of the new stuff (a few Johnny Van Zant covers of old classics notwithstanding). Nowadays classic rock radio supporting new music from the sixties and seventies (even eighties) seems to be a rare and a token effort at best.
