This Shirt

Thinking about the late Tom Tipton and numerous Out of The Blue Art Gallery moments. As I said before, for every insanely wonderful moment, there was another "Dude, what the hell?" moment. Take this shirt I took a picture of back in March 2015 when it was still in Central Square Cambridge. The saying on the shirt "You won't wear a shirt, and you'll cry" is from a Patton Oswalt routine (put the words in YouTube, you'll get it. Not the best look to attract passersby on Massachusetts Avenue. I posted this on Twitter back then and tagged Oswalt. Not surprisingly, there was no response. To be fair, I would have worn this shirt. Indoors.

Deep Drive Dive

Been going through old thumb drives. Found this picture of what was likely a wall inside the bathroom of the Out of the Blue Art Gallery during its time in Central Square Cambridge back in September of 2016.

The cat outline in red is for a band I've never seen, The Basement Cats, which could have been formed at the Out of The Blue's old Prospect Street location in Cambridge, given the amount of cats down in the basement and in the gallery.

The dog outline in green with the Out of the Blue's name on it is clearly a tribute to the gallery owner Tom Tipton and his series of giant dogs over the years which also had free reign in the gallery (thankfully only one at a time).

The Basement Cats still have a website and an Instragram page. Whether it's the same band or just incredible coincidence, I cannot say.

Found Not Art

After months and months of no new finds, I saw this while going into the Central Square red line entrance.

Spion Out and About Again?

While I was walking around Central Square yesterday, I was happy to find a sticker by Spion that looked fresh and new.

#LoveYouFirst #AllYouNeedIsLove #LoveYoSelf Signed Spion

It's good to think that Spion is getting his work out again. More than that, his work is faring better out here in post coronavirus land. Better than in the MBTA at least.

#Love Sticker by Spion, torn on MBTA map inside Red Line train.

Saw this on the way home.

This Week's Friendly Reminder

Instead of posting one of the many "No mask, no services" type of signs I've seen in a lot of places, I've decided to show some of the more creative pandemic posters. This is one I saw in a store window while social distancing in Central Square, Cambridge. Didn't get the store name. Will update and put it in if I go back today.

"Take 20 Seconds to Protect Yourselves and others" (shwing a pair of hands, one black, onw white), "Wash Your Hand, (Wet, Get Soap, Scrub, Rinse, Dry")" written in multiple languages.

Yesterday's Ride

When I went to Central Square yesterday, it was my first time ever in an empty Red Line car. The car may have even been empty all the way from Andrew Station. An empty car at any time of the day, let alone five in the afternoon? It's never happened. Not during the weekend, not on a weekday at midnight, not even on Christmas day.

Seen Yesterday

I can always count on seeing something creative stuck on the walls and street signs of Cambridge. This one, "Central Square is Dead," almost proves that Central Square isn't dead (not entirely anyway), given that it's graffiti is more creative than 90% of everything else I see around the Boston area.

"Central Square (word represented by actual square) is Dead, " dead square with "x's" and stuck out tongue on side of road

Your Weekly Dose of God

These pamphlets are showing more and more lately.

Where Will You Spend Eternity?
Same message, different graphic.

I really don't know where I'll spend eternity, if eternity even exists. Maybe the people behind this pamphlet know more than me. Maybe not.

Poetry on the T (kinda)

Found this while exiting the Central Square T station Saturday afternoon.

I want more graffiti like this.

I keep/telling him/I'll be his/Gf if he comes/out/that ship has/sailed!

I Love This

First saw this last month during the Boston Poetry Marathon.

Whoever created this, thank you. The backgorund scenery of all my Cambridge nights, perfectly encapsulated.
