How I Remember David Bowie

The easiest answer (though possibly the silliest) is that I remember him every time I take the stairs at work.

Years before Bowie's death, my work put up these motivational murals in the main stairway with various quotes in order to encourage fitness and less elevator use. As it is, I take the stairs a lot. So I see this at least a couple of times a day.

A Writing Prompt for Our Fallen Musicians

You know you're speaking to an older individual when said individual mentions sadly all the influential musicians who have passed on. People like Prince, David Bowie, and...Glenn Frey?

I won't get into a whole "Eagles Suck" thing or any of the posthumous bashing. But you have to admit, it isn't likely you would think of hearing Mr. Frey in the same sentence as Prince if you're my age.

Then I thought: Think of the poems you could write with all three musicians referenced.

Then all I could think of was this haiku:



Little red corvette
drives down Suffragette City
and the heat is on

Let's Make it Christmas One More Time

Hearing this song over and over was the one good thing about working at Starbucks in my twenties. It isn't the holidays until I hear this song at least once.

RIP David Bowie

Always sad for me to her someone else pass away from cancer. Ironically, it was the work he despised doing in the eighties that I first heard and enjoyed. Never stopped finding nuggets from his past and present. And even hipsters have to give him props for providing the music for the best end credits sequence ever.
