Nothing to See Here

Just me and my emotional support poets Timothy Gager and Jason Wright. Thanks to them and everyone else for coming to Ron Goba's tribute last night at The Cantab.

April 1: A Tribute to Ron Goba at the Cantab Lounge

For over a decade, the Cantab's Boston Poetry Slam served as a home for Ron Goba, doorman for the attendees and friend to countless poets.

As someone who knew Ron as a friend and mentor, I am honored to be part of this special tribute to Ron happening on April 1, the beginning of National Poetry Month.

I am grateful to Tom Daley for organizing this event and getting as many people as possible to gather under one roof to say farewell to a literal and figurative giant in the Boston poetry scene.

Join myself, Tom, Nate Connors, Michael F. Gill, Victoria Bosch Murray, Jenny Oliensis, James Stotts and Prabakar Thyagarajan and countless other lovers of Ron at The Cantab on 738 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The door opens at 7:15 and starts at 8:00 PM.

I hope we can fill that room one last time.

Ron at the Mic

Here is a photo of Ron reading at the Cantab Lounge back on May 11, 2011. It was the last reading he did while his wife Sue was still alive. He performed one other time after Sue's death on May 27, 2015, two year's after Sue's death. This picture will hopefully be used for promotion of an event in May. I'll share more information when I'm allowed to.

Happy Valentines Day

What better way to celebrate the so-called holiday than with a photo of The Cantab in Cambridge, a constant source of heartache for me in the early 2000's.

May 26: Mr. Hicks Returns to Stone Soup Poetry

When I was recording Gary Hicks reading at The Cantab in 2009, I never expected it to be his least reading there. Even when he left Boston, I always expected to see him return to The Cantab Lounge at some point. Sad to say it never happened. The Cantab is now gone, but at least one of Boston's poetry homes survives. Once again by the magic of Zoom, Gary Hicks joins this Wednesday us as we close out Stone Soup's fiftieth anniversary celebration (for now).

Join us on May 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM ET by clicking this link.
