From The Summer Days: Bill Barnum
since May, I'm amassed some really nice photos from Stone Soup that I haven't had time to put up. I don't exactly have extra time to do it now, but I'd like to try anyway.
This one I like since it's an unusual trio: Stone Soup stalwart James Van Looy, local radio personality (who I first heard as "The Reverend" Al Cole on WZLX), and living legend Bill Barnum. This was from Al's earliest visits to the Out of The Blue Gallery (where he later performed in July) and I thnk the first time he met Bill.
You might forget the first time you saw Billy perform, but you never forget the first time you interact with Bill. My first time was as part of another unusual trio: myself, a homeless person and Bill right outside fo the Park Street T stop during the Democratic National Convention in 2004. We were surrounded by fully loaded military while Bill and the homeless man related each other's experiences on acid. Had I a camera then...the military might have taken it from me. Still, it would have been worth a try.
