The Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse is an opportunity for spoken word artists to share their poetry, stories, and songs. It is held the last Saturday of every month at 7pm at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Medfield, MA.

Are you up to the challenge to bring in a story/poem/song about this month's theme? One you have in your back catalogue or a new one hot off the presses? Thea has been taking this challenge every month, will you?

We serve a delightful array of pastries as refreshments; some are freshly baked by volunteers. Come and join in the fun, either to enjoy as an audience member or to participate. Open mic readers have 6 minutes to share. Teens and adults welcome. If you want to sign up for the open mic, send an email to: theaiberall@yahoo.com

Rick Drost writes and sings songs with depth and heart. His songs treat life from varied angles - jilted lovers, swans in the Public Garden, leftover lobsters, and meditations on meditation. Drost's latest CD Turning the World continues to get airplay from Europe across America to New Zealand. Drost has performed at Club Passim, Dedham Square Coffeehouse, RISA Songwriters Showcase, Lilfest Festivals, the Acoustic Lounge, the Great Waters Music Festival and many other venues.

Rick grew up in a musical family, playing classical piano from an early age into high school. Seeing Joni Mitchell three nights running in a little coffeehouse in ‘68 inspired him to start writing and singing in coffeehouses.

"Rick is an engrossing storyteller, much in the same mold as Tom Rush, Tom Paxton, John Sebastian" - John Apice, No Depression, Jan 2018

"Rick Drost offers Much to the Heart, soul and mind in debut album Turning the World"- Bill Copeland Music News

“Rick’s latest album Turning the World is absolutely stunning. His masterful lyrics (seriously, they are incredible) are matched only by his beautiful guitar playing. To listen to his songs is like sitting in a water-color painting of New England in the fall.” - Volkert Volkersz, Top 12 albums of 2017 Rick's website
