Note: If you've check out the link here, you'll see I've done these type of poems based on my photography before. They're basically longer versions of my sporadic City Haiku or Tanka 'bout Town exercises. I wnat to try to do something regular to fill up a Monday spot (because I don't have enough work), but this will be the last time I do an intro like this. I want to at least have these be more fun. Maybe this will be every Monday at noon. Maybe it will be every other Monday. Maybe it will go back to being super sporadic. We'll see. For now, enjoy.
Townie in Winter Training
Streets forever carry your name
from windows that never open
to clouds that spell you out
for anyone who knows to stare.
Even the sidewalk moguls,
uncrushable by angry foot,
provide intel on you location
your cell phone set for privacy.
The wind knocks on all doors,
announcing your arrival.
No after hour sneaking in,
no surprised visits uncaught.
Windows leak just enough wind,
whistle you to head-covered sleep,
whisper messages. It's all right.
You never have to leave your home again.
