A Moment of Comics

In dealing with my bouts of burnout over the years, I keep thinking of this page from Captain America #401, written by Mark Gruenwald with pencils by Rik Levins and inks by Danny Bulanadi. By the early nineties, Gruenwald's Captain America was an extension of the writer and editor more than ever, a lifelong fan of Marvel comics exhausted by the dark ultraviolent age of comics. I wouldn't call Levins or Bulandi a master at portraying genuine human emotions (no one at Marvel Comics was during this period), but whenever I sit at my desk unable to even look up at the monitor, I almost always think of this page and the second to last panel.
