This Summer: The 2026 Boston Poetry Marathon

The Boston Poetry Marathon has been gathering since 1998. The tradition carries on in 2026 this summer. Join us as we host a weekend of poetry by over a hundred poets.

We are returning to our home at the Community Church of Boston on 565 Boylston Street in Boston's Copley Square.

I am grateful to co-organizers Christina Liu and Xtina Strong for their help in keeping this event going.

We are in the process of updating our website and hope to send notices to our poets soon.

A GoFundMe page will be dropping by Monday.

Surreal

The Boston Poetry Marathon weekends in past have always been laced with surreal moments. You can attribute that to the summer heat. But even remotely, during a windy Saturday one-day only event, it can happen. I had a couple of out of body/out of time moments when I caught Jim Behrle's Zoom image as I was hosting or working behind the scenes the same event he let me participate in back in 2004 back when it was called the Boston Poetry Massacre. It's gone through many changes, and I am humbled that Jim chose to be part of this paired down event. 

My thanks to Jim and everyone who attended the event as a participant or an audience member (or both). Thanks to WBUR drawing some eyes to our event. Thanks especially to fellow organizers Xtina Strong and Christina Liu. Not to mention organizers emeritus Bridget Eileen and Suzanne Mercury for their support.

Next year, we will do everything we can to guarantee the event comes back live. We hope you'll join us then.

The schedule is as set as it can be, the Zoom links have been sent out. It's only a matter of time before the Boston Poetry Marathon' begiins this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Join me online along with organizers Xtina Strong and Christina Liu, organizers emeritus Bridget Eileen and Suzanne Mercury, and scores of other poets for an entire day of poetry as the annual tradition goes on a little diminished, a little late, but strong as ever. Summer 2023 Highlights: Boston Poetry Marathon

For the first time since I've been reading at this event, I participated in the event not only as a performer but also as an co-organizer. 

I started and managed the Gofundme page to raise the funds to pay for the event. I was there both days doing media work and documenting the event. 

I even took the podium as a host and probably made an ass of myself like I normally do. Doesn't matter. I did everything I could to help make this happen with the help of Christina Liu, Xtina Strong, Suzanne Mercury and departing organizer Bridget Eileen. 

I'm gathering my thoughts as summer comes to an end so I can send out a much delayed final message to wrap up the year and prepare for next August.

The Boston Poetry Marathon Is Happening This Weekend!

 

 

According to the schedule, I'll be reading for the Boston Poetry Marathon this Saturday at 3:00 PM. I'll also be helping the entire weekend. It's great to share my timeslot with Ruth Lepson, Suzanne mercury, Heather Hughes, Carol Weston and Jenny Grassi. 

Please join all of us at the Community Church of Boston this weekend for the BPM on August 5 and 6. We have an amazing line up this year.

I have the honor of being a member of the organizing team for the 2023 Boston Poetry Marathon. It's an honor to join Bridget Eileen, Christina Liu and Xtina Strong, who, along with Suzanne Mercury, kept the event alive during the pandemic years.

​This year's marathon will take place on the fifth and sixth of August at the Community Church of Boston in Copley Square and will be in-person (though still watchable online).

I am also managing their Gofundme page so that the event will be fully funded. Please donate if you can.

Join me and 100-Plus Poets at the Boston Poetry Marathon

 

 

From August fifth to August seventh, the Boston Poetry Marathon will be coming back together live for the first time since 2019. 

Join us a the Community Church of Boston in Copley Square for over a hundred poets over three days, hosted by Bridget Eileen, Suzanne Mercury, Christina Liu and Xtina Strong. 

 It looks like I'll be going on Saturday afternoon. As always, I'm the least of the reasons you should witness this event, whether it's live or via the online component via YouTube and Facebook. Keep visiting the website for more updates as they come.
