Stone Soup Croutons, 4-26-23: It's Time

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions selected from Stone Soup Poetry's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here.

I also have a book collecting the best of my first year of poems. Click here to purchase it.

Wednesday night was the last night at the Assemblage Gallery. For now? Forever? I can't say. I'm glad Bil Lewis was the one to close out this era a second time.

I'm glad Bil has a video of the event.  I  haven't posted as much documentation of Stone Soup's time at the gallery. Either time, actually, since we were there from September 2019 to February 20202 the first time around. I'm still sitting on video and pictures that need to be posted. Maybe for May...

This week's poem is a bit of a cheat. (aren't' they all?) I didn't take many notes and am relying on the photography of the gallery to help me take this poem home. Glad I have these poems to store certain emotions and impressions. In this case, not even gentrified locations being safe from their own gentrification.

It's a new era, I guess. Thanks for reading.

Bil Below the Cityscape

The Assemblage Gallery has an amazing show this month. With the new lighting, the artwork above Bil Lewis as he performed really came to life after sundown. I was recording with my cell phone, so I had to take a photo with my antique iPad. Doesn't do it justice. If you really want to appreciate the work, you should visit the gallery this weekend.

I Got the Joke

I only hope this is new and that I'm not only noticing this months later.

Leaving Stone Soup Last Night

Every night when the poetry is done and I head out, the backdrop always looks a little bit different.

Seaport View

Given that there seems to be no snow coming anytime soon, I'm going to see if this photo will make a good banner.

Seaport View

Took this last Wednesday night after Stone Soup's live show with The Garage Poets.

Already looking forward to going back to the Assemblage Gallery next month.

The next Stone Soup live show is on August 10.

All I have to do is get a feature.

Hopefully, I'll be announcing one by Wednesday.

From Picture to Page: Distance

This was taken on New Year's Eve after viewing the comparatively minuscule ice sculptures by the Seaport area. Nearly zero people around. New year, new start. It's also the second week in a row I'm using the word "horizon." Sorry/not sorry. Happier 2021, everyone.
