Happy Birthday Martha Boss

Actually, it's was two years ago, but I wanted to post a picture of her reading on her birthday for the Spare Change anthology at Trident Booksellers and Cafe.

August 22: Spare Change News Reading

Porter Square Books is celebrating the release of the Spare Change News anthology. It takes place on Wednesday the 22nd at 7:00 PM, and I'll be reading with several other poets who are included in the anthology. This project took years to complete, and I congratulate Marc Goldfinger and Lee Varon for completing this long-awaited project. I hope you'll stop by or at least consider picking up a copy.

August 5th: Marc Goldfinger at Stone Soup

Marc Goldfinger has been a Highway Poet, an Occupy Poet, and remains so many other things in the Boston community. Not the least of which is the champion of poetry in Spare Change News, the city paper for the homeless. What he hasn't been for a while is a Stone Soup feature. Oh, sure, he's read many times over the last few years, but it's been as a co-feature among fellow poets. This year however, we're happy to give him the full spot. Be at Stone Soup this Monday for his triumphant solo return.

Poetry in Spare Change: An Update

Remember my Spare Change post from a few days ago about the poetry section potentially being in jeopardy?  Here's a response from Spare Change Poetry Editor, Marc Goldfinger.

For all you folks out there who want to see the poetry back regularly in Spare Change News; first of all, Thank You, second of all, please cease and desist.  They got the message.  And thanks to Doug who started this; he really cares about poetry and he's the best.

Peace, Marc D. Goldfinger

Spare Change Poetry: A Thing of the Past?

A message from Doug Holder:

"Under the new editor of Spare Change News the poetry section of paper is disappearing..from a tradition of two pages...to an occasional poem if the editor sees fit... Marc Goldfinger, the poetry editor has for years has made a point of publishing poetry in this fine street newspaper. It would be a shame if this disappears. I hope you will email or write the editor and tell him how much you value the Poetry Page, and how it needs to be in the paper."
