It's the Live Wave (should have done this sooner)!

An amazing night. Thanks to Deb Priestly for featuring at Stone Soup's last live show of 2022. Thanks also to Jan Rowe and James Van Looy for helping her get there safely. News is coming for 2023. We are excited to announce what happens next!

Thirty Days of Stone Soup Stuff

I think Susan Deer Cloud (a cat person through and through) took this picture of me with one of Tom Tipton and Deb Priestly's many gallery kitties.

There are things I don't miss about the Out of The Blue Art Gallery, but one thing I do miss (especially in the old Prospect Street location) is the high chance for a cat to walk up and let you place them on the podium.

William J. Barnum, 1925-2019

News was shared that on Sunday, July 21, we lost William J. Barnum, better known to poets as simply Bill Barnum. As a descendant of the PT Barnum legacy, he was a clown, a mime, a ballet dancer, an actor, a poet and possibly many other things well before he made Boston his home.

A Show of Support

The Out of the Blue Art Gallery has been struggling financially since they moved into their newest location. Co-founder Deb Priestly sent out a call for letters of support for the gallery to the landlord.  This one comes from Peter Valentine.

Stone Soup Croutons, 5-29-17, Poet's Privilege

Stone Soup Croutons is a weekly poem I write using lines and impressions butchered picked up from poems overheard from Stone Soup's open mic readers and features. I figure out a title (and sometimes the rest of the poem) later. You can read the other ones I've done since 2015 here. I'm slowly approaching the end of year two!

We had an open mic and workshop last night. I'm glad people brought work. I got a poem out of the night. I am on deadline, Let's get the poem out.

And Now...Psycho Pug!

Purchased as a gift for Friend, who swears that poetic colleague and artist Deb Priestly used the picture of young Smokey below for reference. You decide.

Well, Clarice?

Have the pugs stopped screaming?

See Deb Priestly Before She Features at Stone Soup This Monday

June 27th: Deb Priestly Returns

I'm known to host Stone Soup week after week with the tenacity and commitment usually attributed to stalkers and serial killers. This week is one of those work-related exceptions. I expect to be back in full force by July for the rest of the summer. This coming Monday though, is not to be missed, as we will be graced with a feature by one of the founders of the Out of The Blue Art Gallery, the longtime home of Stone Soup. Deb Priestly has been up to much as of late, and maybe she'll share some of it as she reads through new and old work. If you've never seen her or heard her work before, now is the time. And ask her about her weekly Open Bark open mic night every Saturday night from 8ish to wheneverish.

Booking for Deb Priestly, Held Every Saturday Night

I am doing volunteer work for Deb Priestly's venue at Out of The Blue, the Open Bark, held every Saturday night from 8:00 to 10:00, PM. At this point, I am not booking poets for features. I'm not sure how I would juggle two weekly venues in the same place. However, Open Bark does welcome musicians and comics. Musicians who want to be featured can contact me at chadpoetforhire@yahoo.com, while poets should contact Deb at priestlyarts@gmail.com
