To My Stone Soupers

The last issue of Stone's Throw was released in December 2024.

I wanted to do a sequel to the Democracy Benefit Issue from years before.

I've changed my mind.

The theme for the new issue is "Please Do Not Put Epstein Files in the Toilet."

Who's with me? Who wants to submit.

Projects I Finally Completed in 2024: Stone's Throw

I announced the "Aim for the Thoughts and Prayers" issue of Stone's Throw almost a decade ago. Never thought I would finish this, but thanks to artist David House, we had a cover, and I released the seventh issue (available for download here) on the month of my birthday. Can I get a second issue out by the end of the year? I can only try. Either way, the second "Democracy Benefit Issue" should  come out some time next year.

Stone's Throw #8 Cover Unveiled

Thanks to David House for providing the artwork for what will likely be the strangest issue of Stone's Throw I've ever published. I hope to get this out before Thanksgiving.

I wonder, given the recent Twixodus (I won't call it "Xodus" because I refuse to call Twitter X), are there any people who wish to be last minute contributors to the "Unalive the Algorithm" issue?

You might have more to say about the oligarchical internet given Musk's rise to undeserved power (again).

Write me at chadpoetforhire@yahoo.com while you still can.

Finally!

Sunday ended with a reasonably sized boom from our water heater. Monday was spent at a memorial and on the phone looking for a plumber. Tuesday was spent clearing out the space for the plumber to work, waiting on the plumber, helping them work and cleaning up afterwards. All of which is to say, damn, I couldn't get anything mailed out yesterday. The "Aim for the Thoughts and Prayers" issue of Stone's Throw will be going out to contributors later today. Ah, it wouldn't be publishing if multiple deadlines weren't blown.

Ready to Go Out

Stone's Throw #6 was released months ago. After too many delays, the hard copies of the issue have been stapled and are ready to go out to contributors who want them. I have some addresses from contributors already, but anyone who hasn't sent me that information yet can do so before the big mailing on Tuesday. Of course, any non-contributor who wants an immediate copy of the issue and won't be seeing me anytime soon can download it here.

Stone's Throw: Unalive the Algorithm! A Call for Submissions

The internet hasn't failed us. It just stopped working for us. At all.

The world wide web and its hydra-like assortment of apps started out as equal opportunity and a way for people to share like-minded interests.

Already Thinking Ahead

Thinking of a new issue of Stone's Throw already.

At Last

Now I'm ready to send out the proof of Stone's Throw #7 to the contributors. Took me long enough.

Edit: Dammit! Now I'm waiting on one more person. This is going to be worth it, I swear.

Later today?

In a short while I'll be sending a proof copy of Stone's Throw #7 out to contributors for their approval. This journal has had such a perilous journey to publication that some of the contributors might not even remember they contributed anything. Hopefully, it's a pleasant surprise. If all goes well, the issue will be out later today or tonight to help mark the fifty-third anniversary of Stone Soup.

David House's cover for the "Aim for the Thoughts and Prayers" issue of Stone's Throw has been done for some time. Can I get a couple of more submissions so I can finally get this out? What's it gonna take for inspiration, people?

Send you work to chadpoetforhire@yahoo.com as soon as you can. Check out the back issues to help you understand the assignment better.

Just Dug This Up

Found this while looking through my files for other lost gems. This drawing of Trump crying was created by Adric Giles as potential cover art for the fifth issue of Stone's Throw ("The Democracy Benefit Issue") until he submitted a much better final piece. It looks like this art could have been drawn this week for a new issue. Maybe we will use it if I can ever get a hold of Adric again. For now, I will keep working on the next issue of Stone's Throw titled "Aim for the Thoughts and Prayers," an issue years in the making and tragically more relevant than ever.
