Another Victory

It took a while, but I finally got Poets & Writers to add Tell-Tale Chapbooks to their database. That means I was finally able to add my most recent book to my profile in the Poets & Writers directory.

Thanks to Poets & Writers for finding the time to fix this while keeping afloat in the middle of a pandemic. 

Accomplishments I'm Proud of in 2020: The Collapsed Bookshelf

 

Some people have false starts, I have false finishes. 

The manuscript for my second book full-length collection of poems wasvaccepted at the end of 2016. Because of the nature of how I wrote these poems (leaving them in need of serious editing) and the way my schedule has been a fluctuating mess for years, the final draft with my changes and Mignon's was finished by March 2020. 

In July 2020, The Collapsed Bookshelf came out. It received good reviews and exposure thanks in no small part to it being on Amazon. Turns out this was both a blessing and a curse, as I didn't expect Jeff Bezos to turn even more evil than he already was. Still, I wanted my book to be taken as seriously as possible. It worked thanks in large part to Editor and Publisher Mignon Ariel King of Tell-Tale Chapbooks. 

The Collapsed Bookshelf has since been nominated for a Massachusetts Book Award. For a collection of poems I mostly wrote in less than twenty four hours, this was the second hardest collection I ever worked on. It was worth all the effort I made and all the stolen time I had to seize to finish the job.

My Latest Book is Now on Amazon

In 2005 I started my tenure at the historic weekly reading series Stone Soup Poetry, co-hosting and promoting at first before becoming the full time host.

Ten years later, I began a series called Stone Soup Croutons, poems I would write based on what was read on the open mic and who was featured each week.

The Collapsed Bookshelf is a selection of Stone Soup Croutons pieces written from June 2015 to August 2016. This book collects reworked poems, many of which are no longer available online.

I am grateful to Mignon Ariel King and Tell-Tale Chapbooks for giving this work a brand new presentation. I am also grateful to Edward S. Gault for providing photography for the cover.

Chad Parenteau hosts the Stone Soup Poetry series. The poems in The Collapsed Bookshelf reveal the cross sections of Parenteau’s personal life and his reflections on the longest-running weekly poetry series in Massachusetts. The poems are derived from his online “Stone Soup Croutons” weekly poetry column. The collection has an avant-garde tone, but somehow the poet blends his stream of consciousness, social observations, and uniquely non-lecturing political commentary into a narrative of connected maybes.

New Published Work

So happy to have my work included in the latest Tell-Tale Inklings journal from Tell-Tale Chapbooks and Editor/Publisher and friend Mignon Ariel-King. People I'm Grateful for in 2017: Mignon Ariel King

For the last two years, Mignon as a publisher and editor was the advocate of my work I thought I would never have.

Because of her support, I've gotten both more work in print and a Pushcart nomination under my belt.

This past year, we have been slowly but surely putting together my book, which will see print in 2018.

I can't thank her enough for entertaining all my emails, especially the back and forth over the title, which I'll finally announce next year.

Tell-Tale Inklings #3 is Out Now

Mignon Ariel King just released the third issue of this poetry journal from her Tell-Tale Chapbooks imprint.

I'm included among a number of writers new to me and old colleagues, which always makes me happy. And it's got a great cover by Stephan Antsey.

2016 Highlight: My First Pushcart Nomination

I can't thank Mignon Ariel King and her Tell-Tale Chapbooks enough for not only including my work in the  this amazing tome but also nominating my poem "On Your A/C Falling from the Window for a Pushcart Prize. I don't know if I'll win, but the nomination alone is more than I hoped for.

November 9: Mignon Ariel King Brings Tell-Tales to Stone Soup

Mignon Ariel King has been on a roll these past few years, publishing great work of her own and others through Hidden Charm Press and now Tell-Tale Chapbooks publishing Tell-Tale Inklings #1 this past summer. She's been touring local venues to promote the release of this new anthology, and Stone Soup is her next stop. Be in the audience a pick up the remaining copies of Tell-Tale Inklings while you can.

Jason's First Poetry Collection Re-Released

Mignon Ariel King announced that Jason Wright's A Letter to The World is now available on Amazon again via Tell-Tale Chapbooks, this time with a new cover closer to what Jason intended.
